About the Artist
Kim M Martin was born and raised in De Pere and Green Bay, WI. She started working at Photography by Leiningers in the summer of 1979, where she continued thru the summer of 1984. She earned an Associate Degree in Photography from Madison where she also worked at a photo lab for several years. After returning to Green Bay, Kim took up a position with Turba Photo for a couple years until she started Accent Photography by Kim in Jan of 1989.
Kim has gone on to earn a second Associate Degree in Photography from the WI Professional Photographers of America. She has earned many awards for her work including the Prestigious Fuji Masterpiece Award, Loan Collections and Artistic Quality Awards. She has also been a keynote speaker in WI, MI and OK sharing her unique style of childrens portraiture.
Kim switched Accent Photography over to the digital age in 1999 and in 2000 converted her entire studio over to Digital Capture, being the first studio in this area to take the plunge.
She is a regular contributor for the covers of Women Magazine. Her works have been selected for a juried show in Chicago, have been printed in National Magazines such as Hemmings Motor and a National Bridal magazine.
She is the main photographer for the Weidner Center and the Bellin Lifelines Series, which have allowed her to work one on one and photograph such celebrities as Julie Andrews, Joan Rivers, Maya Angelou and Martin Short just to name a few.
Kim has done photographic works in Niterio, Brasil with her daughter Nicole, and Uganda and Rwanda, Africa with her daughter Kara. The photographs from these expeditions have allowed for both ministries to more than double the amount of children they can help. In Brasil they were able to add onto the current school and in Africa they have doubled their students and are in the process of building another school to help even more children who are stuck in severe poverty.
Kim also currently works with the four local hospitals to provide newborn photographs to the babies who are either stillborn or die shortly after birth. Since the parents cannot take their child in for portraits she goes to the hospitals at all hours to provide beautiful memories that the parents and families can hold onto.
Currently Kim's daughter Nicole is living in Los Angeles and working on a Documentary about the babies called, "Gone at Dawn". A clip can be seen at www.goneatdawn.weebly.com.
Contributions can be made through this site for "Gone at Dawn" and for the "Africa School" which we are currently building.
